Randi Penenburgh, Special Olympics Howard County athlete and a member of Team USA Powerlifting, took home the Gold Medal at the Special Olympics World Games in Greece. Team USA Powerlifting consisted of 16 athletes, 4 females and 12 males. Randi was the smallest athletes competing in Powerlifting, not necessarily by height but by weight.
Randi competed in the Bench Press and completed a successful lift of 20 kilo’s (approximately 45 lbs.) which is her maximum Bench Press lift. Not only did Randi earn the Gold Medal, but she received a standing ovation during the awards presentation. Congratulations to Randi and her family!
